It’s all yours - Planet Earth. Now that’s a retirement plan. But just you be careful, though. No interfering. I don’t want any trouble. Just… just have a nice life.
Oh Doctor, I will make you proud.

GUYS, YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND THE IMPORTANCE OF THIS SCENE.

MR. COPPER WENT ON TO CREATE THE MR. COPPER FOUNDATION.

YOU KNOW, THE MR. COPPER FOUNDATION WHICH INVENTED THE SUBWAVE NETWORK.

THE SUBWAVE NETWORK WHICH HARRIET JONES USED IN ‘THE STOLEN EARTH’ TO BRING THE DOCTOR BACK TO EARTH TO FIGHT THE DALEK INVASION AND STOP THE REALITY BOMB.

MR. COPPER IS THE BIGGEST UNSUNG HERO IN DOCTOR WHO.

I really, genuinely feel awful for all of the old Doctors now.

And the way Moffat explained it was soooo condescending:

“They’re all brilliant, they’re all terrific, but time has passed. I think it would be beyond the dignity of all those very fine actors to want to force themselves back into a costume from 20 or 30 years ago.” (SFX Magazine)

I saw Peter Davison speak yesterday at Hal Con, and his take on the issue was much the same. He said that he feels the 50th is celebrating the 50th Anniversary itself rather than 50 years of the program. He said that Moffat had basically penned something that celebrates his own work rather than something than something that celebrates the show as a whole. Peter Davison said that he felt let down to be part of a group excluded from the anniversary despite his role in its history, which is really very sad.

He said that Moffat had basically penned something that celebrates his own work rather than something than something that celebrates the show as a whole.

I know I’ve reblogged this before, but the added Davidson quote just makes me terribly sad. I got into who properly in the Eccleston years, but I’ve always been aware of it. It’s a huge part of the TV culture of the UK and the wider sci fi community. People who have no interest in the show now remember hiding behind the sofa when they saw the Daleks. And some people have been watching the show since the beginning and still love it now. The fiftieth should not be about one man and his ego. It should be about the fans, all the doctors, all the companions and all the stories that have been loved and lived. And we’re not going to get that.

I sent my Dad a link to this earlier. Mum messaged me after a few minutes saying that he stared at this for a long time, and then stood up and left the room. Five minutes later she went after him and found him on the couch with one of our dogs on his lap. Our dogs are never allowed on the sofa. That’s how badly this shook him.

Dad has been a fan of the program since he accidentally caught the very first episode the first time it aired. He reads the TARDIS wikia all the time, and I suspect may have even contributed to it. For the last few months, he has been mentioning how much he hopes they’ll get the old Doctors back, because he misses them. It’s disgusting that they’d treat fans of his generation like that.

ESPECIALLY THOSE FANS WHO ACTUALLY WERE THE DOCTOR.

I am even more full of disgust for Moffat than I ever thought I could be. I wish I’d socked him when I had the chance. Fucking hell.

Moffat had basically penned something that celebrates his own work rather than something than something that celebrates the show

basically sums all of this up.

"none of us have been deemed worthy."
Those words make me cry.

Not a part of the fandom (long story) but this actually enrages me.

My first exposure to who was actually getting sucked into a wiki about it before 9 debuted.

So I kind of ended up liking the older doctors better because I read all about them.

Then 10’s fandom scared me away forever >.>

The following is a list of things I know about Dr. Who:

1. It’s British and has a Tardis

2. It is currently helmed by a first-class asshole

3. Every time I hear about something related to #2, I grow even less interested in knowing anything more than #1.

I remember when I loved Doctor Who. Then Moffat went from pretty good writer to running the show. It’s pretty much been garbage since then.

»» No McCoy? Consider me the fuck -out-.

Moffat’s quote is such utter tripe and it’s not a surprise to hear this kind of thing from him. Many of the veteran Doctors have expressed interest in returning— a lot of them did so via the radio drama series.
Tennant expressed that the 5th Doctor, Peter Davidson, was a HUGE inspiration to him and why he wanted to be in the series. To say you don’t want to include such a great influence is just such complete bullshit.
